Agree the show was underappreciated, but that was not the sentiment of my Pops and me.
I watched this show from the beginning as a boy of 10 years old and still remember a lot of it.
The Werewolf episode was one of my favs, as was Jack Soo's deadpan delivery.
The tribute show they did after he died was special and a first (and maybe last) for a TV show to acknowledge an actor (not character) had died while a series was still running.
Also, the long list of character actors that showed up on there was impressive.
My fav was Don Calfa (Paulie from Weekend at Bernie's)

Cheers is a personal favorite....watched a lot with my family growing up, wkrp in cinncinati, Barney Miller, all in the family, the Jefferson's, Sanford and son....many more I'm sure I'll think of later, but those are the ones I remember the most, are they all comedy, I dunno

Sanford and Son was great.... Redd Foxx was one of my favorites. Aunt Esther, Bubba, Lamont, Grady, Rollo... And officers Smitty and Howard. Never missed an episode growing up.

Barney Miller was a good show. I don't count it as a favorite only because they often put dramatic personal elements into the show and I'm just not into that. But the comedy was good and the character acting was outstanding. I don't know the actual intent of the show's creators, but they did a good job of portraying an almost idealistic picture of what a color blind society looks like on a small scale. They occasionally addressed individual elements of prejudice, but each main character was portrayed as no better or no worse than the person next to them. I do like shows like Barney Miller, or Night Court, where the setting of the show allowed for a zany assortment of offbeat characters (suspects, victims, and prisoners) to enter for brief periods without over doing it.

Me and the wife watch Brooklyn 99 and were bummed when it was cancelled......For a day at least. NBC has picked it up so it isn't dead yet.

Could do without Gina though, she is annoying.

All the references to the "old school" comedies brings back memories. My wife and I watched a lot of cable channel reruns of many of them a few years after their last seasons. Cheers and the Frasier spinoff are probably my favorites but I like most of those mentioned.

While not my favorite show of all time, this may be the best TV moment EVER (my parents watched the show so that means I did too).

Live TV, Tim Conway starts to ad-lib, and just keeps going and going. The rest of the cast lose it but try to carry on....

I still laugh at it.

My parents watched the Carol Burnett show regularly. Our family favorite was the skits with Tim Conway's old man character. Harvey Korman could never get through them.

Sanford & Son was great -- haven't seen reruns on that in ages -- I have to start catching it again. Foxx was a hoot, but Demond Wilson as Lamont was terrific -- exasperated but ultimately patient and loving with his on screen father. Loved Foxx and LaWanda Page going after each other -- they wouldn't think of airing most of those comments today.
