Why cant he hit hybrids ? Is it because he's not a good golfer so longer clubs with lower lofts arent for him. Is it because of a visual preference looking down at an iron tyoe head vs a wood type?
Does he use fairway woods off the fairway and if so effectively or not?
What is the longest iron in his bag now and how does he hit it?
Driving irons today are much easier to hit than designs of past....they fly higher and hopefully further at same lofts - some discussion points in the traditional vs modern loft thread help . Nonetheless, once you getbto clubs 39 inches and above there becomes a diminishing return of sorts...these longer clubs combined with lower Lifts become more challenging to hit
Driving irons will also be easier to hit off a tee than off the turf.
Id be interested in knowing the answers to questions above and that might lead to a better recommendation.
Also, has he tried a 7 or 9 wood ? Results?
Ive hit a few of the modern driving irons and was surprised how high and far they travelled. I dont use one currently just because i hit my hybrid and 5 wood well. Of the ines i tried the TM M2 was the best for me.
