Remember,
The Virginia Tech shooter in 2007 used 2 handguns to kill 32 others and then himself. It was nearly double that of the Florida shooting due to the administration of the school declaring it a soft target zone and then not having a detailed policy in place should an active gunman come to campus.
I am tired of the term "assault weapon" because anything can be weaponized. Pencils, clothes, and notebooks can all be used to kill, as can hands, feet, knees, elbows, and skulls. Let's ban them all and make everyone register their baseball
bats and hammers as well.
Should this nation ban one type of firearm, then when will be the next classification to be banned? Handguns are used to end the lives of many more people in the USA than rifles of all types. Banning firearms could lead to more IED and Homebrew gas attacks.
Our founders created the Second AHimmendment in part to enable us to keep our elected government in check.
What is the answer for a rise in gun violence? The way I see it, bans on tools for violence will lead to more indiscriminate killings using more area of effect types of attacks, like bombs, gasses, and fires. This rise in public violence may have more to do with people becoming more secluded in general, filtering evermore of their association's with others through devices rather than in person.
