We have a course near us that has 3 sets of 9 holes each. They constantly rotate one of the 9s out of the loop, so when you play it's an 18-hole course, but it isn't the same 18 each day.

Other 18-hole courses could do something similar, they could alternate which 9 was the 9 you start your 18-hole round on.

Nice looking golf course. I had never played a reversible loop golf course. Wouldn't that gives 36 greens to maintain ?
Green maintenance is one of the most costly item in keeping up a golf course. Maybe they could give the one set of greens a rest when the other set is in use ? But 36 greens to maintain on an 18 hole layout is probably costing more than it could generate.

Release The article says there are only 18 greens. I would think there would have to be extra tee boxes.

We also have a course with 27 holes, but they use them all everyday. I guess they must leave blocks of tee times open on each course so there aren't people teeing off when you get to the second nine. Whatever they do, it hasn't been a problem.

I seem to recall several old English courses being designed like St Andrews with two flags on each green. Also several years ago in one of the golf magazines there was a course designed with four or so greens and multiple tee boxes to set up a mini course on some rich guys land
But never seen a reversible course before.

I recall playing a course a long, long time ago either in NC or SC with two flags on a dual green, but can't recall what its name was....oh, well.

I believe they have multiple sets of tee boxes and you reverse play up the fairway to a green that was a different hole the previous day.

There is a course in my area that alters their layout by using different tee boxed for each round. What happens is that some of the holes that were par 4's now become par 5's on the next round. One hole, a par 3 has the tee boxes on the right side of a small grove of trees on the first round and on the left side of the trees on the second round, which gives a totally different look to the hole. It also puts sand traps into play on one round that weren't really in play on the other round. This makes this nine hole course (in effect) into an 18 hole course.

I like the idea your course has...changing the par on a hole makes it a HUGE change, not just a 20 yard difference in tee boxes.

Fantastic stuff. I remember for a year my course closing a tee box on a short par 4 that was 330 yards so its was a driver and a pitch. We played it as a 200 yard par 3 which brought everything into play...it was cool.

That makes sense, but it will sure confuse a lot of the "patrons".
When our local 36 holes layout first put into play ( mixing the old 18 with the new 18 " there were signage and markers for direction but still, a lot of golfers took the wrong turn somewhere in between. I could see the confusion this may cause even with the regular group of golfers.

I've seen 9 hole courses where you play out and back to the same greens with 2 sets of tees.
