accufitgolf I ordered a set of used Tommy Armour 845S Silver Scots. 4 to PW, W3 52, SW 56, W4 60*. Done on a whim and cheap money. Do not care what the shaft as I will re-shaft them with graphite but first I will play a round with them. I am assuming taper tip hosels (I should know but I forget) so I will belt sand down parallel tip graphite shafts to fit. As I said, on a whim.
accufitgolf Rickochet I can as I have a .370 reamer and I know how, but I never liked destroying original specs. I have plenty of experience is sanding down parallel to fit taper.
accufitgolf Spuzz Let me explain. I have reamed hundreds of hosels and tapered hundreds of parallel graphite to fit taper hosels. 6 of one, a half dozen of another to me but I always explained this to a customer. It can be important if one wants to refit the original shafts. Tapering does open up a much wider selection of shafts then tapered hosels allow. I sold two sets of my old Ping Eye 2's and I was able to say the hosels were not reamed. To some, that makes a difference. Myself, I do not care.
sdandrea1 accufitgolf Personally, I find hand tapering shafts much easier and I can custom fit each shaft to each head.
accufitgolf Well I shafted them up with Grafalloy Pro Launch, graphite shafts, hand tapered to fit the tapered hosel. Played one round with them and they have won the iron spot in my bag for at least a few more rounds. 6-PW, W3 (52 GW), SW, W4 (60 LW)
accufitgolf MidwayJ This is true. Been eyeballing some Cobra Fly-Z XL's. I sold my Ping G's to a fellow club members for $325. Fortunately I have the time and money to play around with stuff.
accufitgolf 3rd round with the 845s. Loving them though I will try the Fly Z's sometime. Never stop trying things.....LOL
accufitgolf azgreg The old TA Tour Step steel. I expect they were TT Dynamics but I paid no attention as I trashed them. Had not seen dimpled shafts (4 per tip) in quite some years. I had to ram rod the heads off. They were on there tight.
