PIGDivot But I will assume here that you are saying this in relative terms, comparing him to other PGA Tour pros?
Yes, I am obviously comparing him to his peers. Outside of the putting, Jordan is rather average to down right mediocre in other phases of the game. He's a tour pro, I expect him to make bunker shots and chip in pretty regularly in fact. These are guys where you find back to back hole in ones on a par three for crying out loud. For him to routinely struggle to get within 15 feet with a wedge in hand from the fairway, it's not going to cut it. He's not a good wedge player at all, in terms of his peers. He's a pretty average driver of the ball, iron striking seems good, not exceptional, his putting separates him. His mental ability to grind through makes me believe he can be absolutely on of the best ever, but his game needs a lot of work if he wants to elevate himself to the next level. Right now, he's in the conversation with Rory, Bubba, Phil, Duval, ect... He is not in the Nicholas, Player, Woods, Hogan, Jones, etc. group, I'm not saying he can't be, but he has a boat load of work to do to get to that range. Right now, he's flirting with number 1 in the world, but that is more indicative of the parity in golf, not that he is the clear cut guy. I know it was a relatively new ranking, but the greats wouldn't have been questioned in who is number 1 this week. As much as I like Jason Day, a great he is not, nor is Jordan, Rory, etc at least not right now.
