The Maltby "Playability Factor" chart, linked above, makes for an interesting read. I vehemently disagree with many of his findings. Others hold it as gospel. For instance, he suggests the Karsten III and IV, predecessors to the Eye 2, have a higher playability factor than the Eye 2. I played all three and there is no way the old Karsten irons were easier to play than the Eye 2's. As with most any golf club ever made, some folks will swear one is more forgiving... longer... more solid feeling... etc.
I played every Ping iron up until we got into the 'i' series and the 'S' series. The last "G" series I had were the G20's. Personally, I still believe the iSi series was the most "playable". The BeCu and BeNi iSi's were the perfect size and shape to not only be forgiving but not be hugemongeous. My current G-Max are rated as Super Game Improvement irons, but we are not getting along too well. I've carded some very low scores with them... and we've had some outings where they durn near were left in the river. Both sets of Eye 2's I have are so good... or refined... so 'playable'... I still pay homage to them when heading into my downstairs golf room.
