I cannot remember all of what I have played for golf balls.
I remember that I started with Titleist branded X outs that I used to get at Walmarket and shortly after Maxfli Revolutions that I purchased from a salvage outfit nearby. These were soft covers that used to turn yellow over time.
These were really nice performing..if you didn't mind piss yellow golf balls.
I went through a Nike something-something phase and a 1st run Wilson Smart Core phase...
I am not going to take a picture as I do not want to get depressed about how many golf balls I own.

While I think Titleist ProV1s may be one of the best golf balls on the planet mainly because of performance and predictable results, TM does a great job of keeping up with them and I have done well grabbing discounted TM tour level balls when new ones hit the shelves.

backinit The jury is still deliberating on the Gamers for me. I tried the Gamer (actually Gamer Soft) for the 1st time two days ago. It performed well, but it felt like I was hitting a piece of chalk. Don't know if that is because of the temps. (high 50's - low 60's) or not, so will try again when warmer. But it reminded me of the D2 feel, which felt the same to me. I like to feel some spring or bounce in the ball and for some reason the soft version didn't give me that feel.

I have never tried Gamer Soft or Gamer Tour for that matter. Try it when it warms up some. The premium balls still have an edge over this one, but not by much. Sure, I would rather play a ProV1 or TM Penta, but I can occasionally buy Gamers for $10 online and it's way better then a $10 a dozen ball.

Well then, just hit the sweetspot!! It's not the ball, as everyone would like to think.
Hit the sweetspot....every ball feels like mush. Even a Pinnacle Gold! Or Top-Flite 7000!

My observations/my good fortune.(most times 😉)

Par4QC While I certainly don't hit the sweet spot nearly as often as a good player does, I hit it often enough to know some golf balls feel sweeter to me than others. I can feel, and like the feel, of liveliness in certain golf balls. I can tell the difference between center and off-center hits with a dead feel on the harder balls too, but I'm not fond of the dead feel even if it means a good shot. I've been able to find something that I like in the past and am hopeful I can again.

When I first started playing I used cheap Top Flite 2000's. Lost quite a few but didn't break the bank. When I started getting a little better I switched to Callaway red hex. I could not believe how that ball felt. Soft to hit and went a lot further than the Top Flite. That's about the time when manufacturers started producing the "ball of the week". So many changes year to year the ball I was playing one year was discontinued the next.

Went to Walmart and picked up a cheap box of Pinnacle Exceptions. I heard the ball was made by Titleist and was considered a poor man's Pro V1. The ball was so good for me that I played it for 5 years until alas it was discontinued as well.

Been playing Titleist NXT softs for a few years now. I buy about 3 dozen of them from Lost Golf Balls at the beginning of the season. Last all year with some left over for the silly late fall season when balls are lost in the middle of the fairway.

That was actually one of my favorite balls of all time. It had a perfect feel for me with a nice crisp feel but not too hard. Dicks had a sale years ago for double 15 packs and I bought a chit load of them and played them for years.

I also like the NXT Tour S yellow. I got the same ball in white and it had a totally different feel. Go figure.

I played them too. Another ball I actually paid for a few dozen of was the 1st gen Precept MC Lady.

LBlack14 I found an MC Lady once, and having heard that some tour players were using them, gave it a shot. I hit that ball very high and straight and played well with it, so I bought a couple dozen. Then I found a LoCo and switched to them just because I like the feel better and it spun less off the driver. But the MC Lady worked pretty good for me in the short time I used it.

Started playing in the early 1970's. I bought a set of Wilson Sam Snead Blue Ridge clubs. Picked up some Wilson balls to go with the set. I must have lost them all before mid-summer, so I picked up some Spalding Dot Diamond balls. I played those all the way through the next year (several dozen!). I started the next season with the TopFlite XL 2000 and must have stayed with that ball for five years. Next up was the Maxfli UTri Tour. I was getting a bit more consistent so I usually retired the ball after too many collisions with trees or cart paths. When Topflite came out with the TopFlite Tour Multi-Layer I switched over to that until they came out with the Strata TL Tour! That was really a good ball for me! Some time after 2007? I believe TopFlite went into bankruptcy. I bought up about 15 Dozen from a local sporting goods store. I started playing less often for 5 or 6 years after that purchase. After getting in to playing more often again I started playing the Gamer, Gamer V2 and now the Gamer Tour. Santa dropped off 8 Dozen Snell MTB for Christmas with a note to share them with the three adult children so I complied with his wishes!

On January 26, 2001 I had my first and only Hole-In-One playing a Precept Lady. One hop into the hole. Oh and By The Way it was in Indiana and the temp was 61*
I have the ball in a plastic case. #10 Precept MC.
Sent an email to precept and they sent me a dozen. Class company.

Was the second ball I played, when I got some extra change, I would buy one sometimes two. My first balls were OPL Spaulding {Other Peoples Lost).

I have left, I saved it from my one and only one hole in one.

Normally I played Titleist balls, Dunlop 1.62 when overseas in the 60s to 80s, Callaway and Titleist today. Played some with a Molitor and Precepts (Lady).

Spalding Black Dots were a match for Titleist back in the sixties.

For the last few years I've played alot of Top Flite D2 feel (Now Feel plus). Best Cheap Golf Ball I've ever used.

In the last 2 years I discovered Vision golf balls from Australia. I received some Vision 808s from Teestar Golf and they are dang good. I've been impressed.
