Putting up the Tree

Putting up the tree, watching " Christmas Vacation". We had the same fake tree for 28 years. Looks great believe it or not. This year she decides to get a new one. It's skinnier than the old one, now she gets her way and stuffs it out if the way between the couch and fireplace. Where it uses to be you could sit on the couch and enjoy it. Now you have to turn around to see it. She been barking for years to put it there. Friggin hate it. I can now fit less than 1/2 the ornaments because u can on see1/2 the tree.

We had a 7' very nice artificial tree for many years. Very pretty, but a royal PITA to put together. It had a wooden pole that color coded branches poked into. A bitch to put together and take down and store. Several years ago we got one that was pre-lit and the branches were hinged and was in three pieces. Only takes a few minutes to put up and just as festive as the old one.

Wife put our tree up yesterday,neighbor has his lites up already.....geez what's the rush?

I will revisit this thread once my wife's great aunt finishes her holiday insanity. Her front yard is like those "can't be real" yards you see in commercials and online. Probably 70 different light up, inflatable, whatever things in her front yard.

Here's a shot from last year. She lives two houses down from us. Lights up the neighborhood!

I'm not big on change...the old tree was perfect size, 6 feet and had the color coded branches too. I could STILL get the kids to help sort them. Small tree so it was only 5 or 6 rows. The spacing for ornaments was great. Putting the lights on it was sort of ducky but not that bad.
The new one..llike Rik's is prelit and 3 pieces. Easy to put together but the tree is so " dense" I can't get the ornaments to hang right. Between that and it being in the corner I'm not putting much on it.

darpar It's hard to believe, but the inside of the house might be worse. Used to be she had 300 Santas in there including one that flew across the room. Less Santas now, but more of other stuff. Feels like the den of a serial killer.

We put ours up today, we finally got the “perfect tree” damn thing looks artificial, but smells nice. We even learned from last year and got one that was short enough to fit in the stand and have a star on it with a mere 2” tip trim, which is standard around here to make solid extra stiff tips.

"Real" artificial fir trees . We quit real cut trees eons ago. Our cats were destroying them and worries of a fire
She has 2 or 3 metal ones for hanging her hand made cross stitch ornaments or snowy angels ornaments.

Our tree is still in the attic. Will probably set it up this weekend. I took the lazy way out and let the wife get us a pre-lit one last year.
