Thanks for all of the kind words.
Bandit came down with pneumonia about 3 months ago.... since then he has enjoyed a steady diet of chicken and rice, so I know he's been enjoying the meals based on how long it has taken him to finish his bowl of food since. 🙂
But it has also been a burden of sorts for me, having to cook for him just about every other day to make sure he's eating. He lost his appetite for his dry food during that time, and sensing that he was on the last hole of his 18-hole round with us - I decided that I was gonna make his last few months with us as enjoyable as possible, even if it meant being his personal chef. Although it has indeed been somewhat of a burden - I would gladly continue making his home cooked meals if I knew that it would extend his life another year.... but as we all know - every dog has his day.
I'm guessing that his last supper with us will be on the 25th... my daughter will be back to college by then, my son and wife will be at work the following day.
I've requested that they all go along with their schedules as-planned, enjoying him and pamper him the night prior, and allow me to take him to the vet the next day to put him down by myself... although I'm not sure how well that will go over - I just think it'll be best for all involved.
Best to remember him that way... for them anyway.
As for me - it won't be easy. 🙁
