Making me hungry!

We've reached a point where our kids do their thing with their families so we go out for T-Day and take my in-laws who are past the age of cooking/hosting. Seasons 52 has a nice traditional meal and to my father-in-law the slightly upscale feel of the place is impressive. With a couple bottles of wine it's a low stress and enjoyable day. We'll go back to their house for desserts and coffee and more football/couch naps.

We'll make a low key traditional turkey breast and ham meal on Sunday with store bought sides and anything my kids bring. But that's no different than most Sundays except for the menu.

My favorites are whatever the family member hosting the event is serving. I bring the wine. A nice Italian Soave.

Usually, the classic like most of y'all, this year with SWMBO's older ~ 83, sister/aunt family (don't ask) in Very rural Ms. probably 30+ family up to her great grands.
Christmas is a bit different though:
Baked whole flounders stuffed with crab filling, cole slaw, baled potato, Sister Shusters rolls, fried crab claws appetizers. My grandmother's recipe Pecan pie served warm topped with Bryers vanilla ice cream. Smells up the place like a fish house but damn it's worth it.almost forgot , sea food gumbo with shrimp oysters crab meat

Unfortunately I am allergic to shellfish/seafood. I guess there are far worse food allergies to be had, but not being able to partake of crab cakes, shrimp, buttered lobster, etc. has to rank right up there.

Not sure. My wife always schedules a trip to someone else's house as a testament to how much she hates to cook. However, later in the weekend we are sure to have a meal where I cook (at a minimum) a roast turkey, corn bread dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, and sweet potato pie. Sure there will be more, but I don't have those planned out yet.

PA-PLAYA That is unfortunate. I can do without lobster, but crab and shrimp hit my happy nerve better than most anything else. On the good side, there isn't anything remotely heart healthy about shellfish, so at least that downside doesn't befall you. I like the sound of those peanut butter/Hershey's cookies.

A worker friend from FL had one for shrimp which he liked, & thought he'd overload on them once he'd heard might effect a cure. Didn't work, but he lived.
Think I heard something like , never again .

Not sure, may play a tournament in the morning and then drive to Marana to oldest daughters, watch some football and eat whatever she cooks.

Plenty of Stella, White Wine (Yellow Tale Chardonnay), Eggnog and Cheese and Crackers.

When we lived up north we'd go down to the Cape (Cape Cod MA.) for Thanksgiving at my sisters place. The ritual was at 10:00 A.M. my brother in law and I would have Ice Chilled Welfleet Raw Oysters on the half shell with Martinis. There would also be Ice Chilled Shrimp with Cocktail Sauce and Cheese and Crackers. That was always a wonderful start to Thanksgiving. 😎

Sneakylong I've never heard of turnip/carrot casserole, but it sounds very interesting. Also, I think your house wins desert honors for sure.

The Turnip / Carrot casserole is my mother in laws dish. It's very good.
My father in law is no longer with us, but his motto was 'Eat Dessert First, Life Is Uncertain.' 😉

Also, my brother in law has a commercial lobster business on Cape Cod. Seafood is my favorite and that's what I miss the most from not living up there.

I was on a 4-day pass from Ft. Benning, Ga to my folks house when I learned that I was allergic. Ate at a Red Lobster in Knoxville and ended up having to go back home because of my allergic reaction (the french fries were fried in the same grease as the shrimp).

That was back in '90.

Several times per year we go to a Japanese Hibachi (which I love) with the fried rice, veggies, etc... I make sure to tell the head chef I have a shellfish/seafood allergy and he just simply makes my meal first before all the rest (if they have seafood).

I tried crab cakes once, loved them.... almost died afterward. lol
but this was before I realized I had an allergic reaction.

I guess there are worse things to be allergic to, but damn... seafood/lobster seems a bit extreme, especially given my appreciation of crab cakes.

Eating the same as u. Last year we went out for Chinese...much better. Can't remember why we did that. Maybe because we were moving my MIL into her condo and didn't feel like the prep work.

I hate Thanksgiving...not a fan of Turkey or anything else...yams, pumpkin pie, foods touching each other. I told her I'd rather get some turkey deli meats, lasagna, pizza and a Turkey scented candle if they want the turkey smell.
