Provisional
On a whim, I purchased a 14º Lady's Ping driver (L series - might've been back when the G5's were out) and switched out the shaft for a stiff flex Graffaloy Pro-Launch Blue. I added about 1/2 inch to the shaft length overall, which would've made it 44.5 inches.
This was back before adjustable lofts had become standard. It was basically a strong 3wood with an oversized face and a longer shaft.
I averaged 250-260 off the tee with that thing, and it was a fairway-finder. Won my club championship with it that year. Early on, the guys in my group made fun of me for playing a women's driver... and that led to numerous instances that season of me reminding them that they'd just been outdriven by a lady's club.
They stopped making fun of me for using it when my handicap plummeted into the + range. 😉
It's all about finding what works. I'd always struggled with a flat swing plane, and needed more loft (which for a lefty back in those days - meant you were basically shit outta luck - UNLESS you were openminded enough to try something different).
I still have that driver down in my basement. I don't need more loft these days, I actually need less loft. Otherwise it would undoubtedly still be in the bag, all these years later.
There have been a few guys on tour who've put ladies model clubs in their bag in a tournament. Fred Couples, Daniel Chopra, etc.
When you experiment and find something that works - stick with it, regardless of whether or not it's "the norm."
The only thing that matters is the number on the card at the end of the day.
