Well, so far I'm pretty impressed with the Ping G SF I bought. I've only had 1 range session and a scramble today so I don't have a whole lot to go off of but first impressions are promising.
I wasn't sure at the range yesterday. I couldn't get any consistent results. It wasn't any longer than the K15 and it wasn't nearly as accurate. Pulls, pull hooks, push fades, etc. I hit them all.
I threw it in the bag today because why not, it's a scramble. First drive was about 220 right down the middle. What really surprised me was the forgiveness. I wouldn't have dreamed that it would be much more forgiving than the K15 but it is. A lot more forgiving. Stupendously so. I found that out first hand on several drives. 😔
Distance was on average longer by 15-20yds but it's an apples and oranges comparison. My driver swing was a little better today than it has been also. Finished the day with a smooth 225yd draw that ended in the middle of the fairway. A draw with a driver is unheard of for me so the SF Tech seems to do a little something.
The weaker flex shaft does seem to be helping my tempo. If I get too quick I can feel it lagging way behind. One good thing is it will be easy to swap shafts if I outgrow this one.
