Be prepared for your blood pressure to rise to dangerous levels if you try to swap shafts on some of those putters. Ping put a ball bearing at the ind of the shaft that holds it in place. Also, that old epoxy requires a fair amount of heat to get the head to let loose on the irons.

Like rynobucket, I also heard about the ball bearing inside the Ping putter shaft/head. Yeah, don't even bother.

Becu are the copper Pings. Easy to spot...they are dark copper like an old penny and the rest of the Ping line are plain old stainless steel.

The ball bearing just requires you to drill a small hole in the bottom of the hosel and then use a small nail and hammer to push the bearing up into the shaft. Drill the hole, heat the hosel until the epoxy breaks down, punch the bearing up the shaft, pull the head. EZ PZ. You can fill the hole with epoxy, or leave it.

I've read about the ball bearings. I'll have to wait until we move into the house and my household goods get delivered so I can mess around with them to get the shafts out.

Becu irons. Those putter are manganese bronze, sorry I wasn't thinking putters. Ping did make a couple becu putters but the ones on the picture are standard ping issue, sorry!

Eh, I ain't sweatin' it. I paid $10 for 7 clubs in all. I'll tinker with them once I get in my house. It ain't the end of the world.

That My Day is a really solid, underrated putter. Worth the ten bucks for that alone, imo.

Yeah, trade in value is probably $10 a piece. I think that's what I got on the one I traded in.

Traded in where? I'm afraid to send these to GlobalGolf after reading their statement about not giving you the money if they are not in good condition. I mean, these things are what.... 40 years old or so? I'd think it'd be expected to be in this condition, but not sure about them.

I traded mine in at Golfers Warehouse near me. They give you PGA value guide money for it. Funny thing is I went to trade in a mint original Zebra, a Tommy Armour ironmaster and the Ping Anser. The value guide had nothing for the ironmaster, $3 for the Zebra and $10 for the Ping.

I ended up selling the 3 of them together on Craigslist for $60.

I could have taken the $10 trade...I paid $10 there 2 years ago when I got it but I figured I'd try Craigslist. Might be a good option for you... Craigslist.

near-new. It'd be a cheap experiment, and we'd all like to see pix after you've tried it.....
