The winning Honda is a racing prototype and is certainly not a stock car. The V-6 twin-turbocharged engine it uses is modified for racing, but is based on a production engine that is used in some Honda and Acura models

Yes. The Honda prototype was the overall winner in the Sebring race, with Corvette prototypes finishing second and third in the overall standings. Another Corvette won the GT Le Mans class (and finished 11th in the overall standings).

Ok, I will offer my opinion (which is worth two cents). It depends on your needs and what you are looking for. The Lexus brand has an excellent reputation for quality. It's a great choice for upwardly mobile yuppies who are status conscious and want to engage in conspicuous consumption to impress their neighbors in their gated communities. Such people also gravitate toward Mercedes Benzes and BMWs, but Lexus can hold its own against these prestige German brands.

Hondas are lower priced, but also offer excellent quality and value. They are fine choices for people who are seeking reliable transportation and a good cost/performance ratio.

I didn't go this year, but I've been to Sebring several times (lived there for a couple years too). Absolutely my favorite form of auto racing.

Cool story... A few years ago while eating dinner at the local steakhouse in Sebring, I struck up a conversation with a guy at the bar. Turned out, he worked with the Corvette Racing team who was down for testing and demo (along with Porsche). He invited me out to the track the next day. I thought it was just to hang out and see things up close. By the end of the day, I was in a racing suit and had driven both a Vette and a trick 911. One of the coolest experiences ever.

Wow! I'm amazed a racing team member would hand very expensive race cars over to someone he had met earlier in the day at a restaurant!

You cannot compare the Honda to a Lexus. You need to compare Lexus to Acura.

Virtually all of the main stream automakers have a "premium" marque'.

Toyota = Lexus
Honda = Acura
Infiniti = Nissan

GM = Cadillac
Ford = Lincoln
Chrysler = same

My $.02
I have owned all 4 of these cars new and they are apples and oranges. It just depends on what you want and what you want to pay. You can't really go wrong with any of them.

The Toyotas do better in snow with their higher ground clearance than the Hondas. On smooth as glass roads the Hondas are amazing. Their agility is superior to the Toyotas.

The Civic Si VTEC doesn't have an equal in the Toyota.
