Has anyone tried a set of the Integra I-Wins? I am loving my homemade SL set, but they need to be stronger loft than they can be bent, in order to make the bag be properly gapped. Anyhoo, the I-Wins fill the bill with minor weakening of lofts. So just wondering if they are decent. I might just order the 7i head and see if I like it, how well it bends, etc.
I-Win SL irons
Know they have progressive offset....a strange design feature on a SL set
Do a search,I remember reading they weren't that good for various reasons, the offset being one..
I know Wishon had the progressive offset in his Sterling single length irons with the reasoning that additional offset in the lower lofts would assist in helping to get the ball up in the air and improve trajectory. While I'm not one to argue with Tom Wishon and I haven't had any hands on experience with the Sterlings I would think that it would be better to have uniform offset through the set like the Pinhawks.
I've got the Sterlings. Came from a set of Mizuno JPX 850 forged. No complaints here. Took a few days to acclimate to the offset, but I've never felt so comfortable and confident standing over a 4/5/6i.
My existing set has progressive offset. Love it. It helps elevate the lower lofts. I think it is a good design feature for SL. Cobra also uses progressive offsets. Don't overthink the one ball position concept. A couple of millimeters means nothing. Not to mention the adjustments you make for an uneven lie, to hit the ball a little higher or lower, etc.
That being said, the overall offsets of the I-Wins are pretty big, and so are the bounces.
I wins start at 6.6 and go down to 3.6 in pw, and then down to the 2,s in wedges, Sterling's start at 4 and go to 2.5 in pw, aw and 2 in SW and lw....seems like a big enough difference in the progression where it would be noticable in the iWin's, starting out with a lot, whereas the Sterling's are more mid down to mid/low

Well I ain't skeered. I move the ball as needed, and 3mm is nothing. That's an eighth of an inch. Actually my set's range would be about 2.2, because I'd start with a 7 iron bent weaker (which reduces offset), and stop at the 54 wedge. So about 5.0 to 2.8, give or take. No problem.
I got a set of heads on here for a buddy of mine and shafted them up. I hit a few at the range and they felt solid, looked good and the offset didn't bother me. I looked and the set I use now (Nike VR Pro Cavity) has just as much offset.
I'm a weirdo and have I-win 5 and 6 and then the DTG SL's 7-A. I got the I-win 5 and 6 specifically bc of the offset. I had trouble getting high enough flight from the DTG 5 and 6 and the I-wins fixed that. They're solid heads, imho.
