Where are buying your shafts .............Apollo, True Temper?

Where are you guys getting your shafts from? TT Dynamic Gold in particular?

I moved on to FST shafts after TT changed their business model years ago and eliminated many of their long time vendors. I tried Apollo after my local vendor no longer carried TT. Apollo always seemed a bit harsh to me. I moved on to FST years ago and am very pleased with them. And I get my shafts from Value Golf.

Value golf. Apollo and FST are my favs. Golfworks, Diamondtour or Hireko if Aaron doesn't have what I need.

Yes. Solid light shaft. I prefer the Apollo Acculite 75 tho, but I am using these as graphite alternatives and prefer the lightest steel shaft I can get. I have PING/Nippon AWT shafts in my Hogan BH5 Offset, but I needed tapers for those. They ascend from about 98 to 110 thru the set and are about as heavy as I can handle.

Anyway, I never met an FST shaft I didn't like.

Reason I ask is that I tried the FST Pro 115 at 7-iron length in a set of single length and they all came out at almost D5 sw, not to mention they just felt heavy altogether. I prefer steel shaft weight in the neighborhood of 100-110 gram with a sw around D2 and a mid to softish tip. I'm thinking of buying some closeout Project X PX95's from diamond tour, but not sure if they're legit PX95's. But also not sold on the FST 90 since my experience with the 115 wasn't so great. I've tried the KBS Tour 90 before and liked it too, if that gives you a reference to my preference.

Since having elbow issues years ago I went to graphite. And I went with the TourX Xcaliber. Sounds like they're about done but I've been getting them from Golfworks.

What length was the SL iron set designed to be built at? How much did each head weigh and how much did your grips weigh? You can get a set to D5 lost of ways!

They were the DTG heads, In1zone, didn't weigh the heads, used 1/2" ferrules, and used midsize grips which I still had to build-up the bottom hand. I'm pretty sure I built them to standard 7-iron length. A friend is trying them out now, so I don't have access to them at this moment. He's a big strong guy, and he's commented on how heavy they felt just hitting balls into a net. I should say that I did hit them all well with the exception of the 4-hybrid. I couldn't get my head around a hybrid shaft that short.

As with any clubs, the swingweight is a result of the weights of all the components and shaft length, and is sensitive to changes in each. Those same shafts could yield a D0 swingweight with those same heads at a different length and/or with different grips.

Hireko, DTG, VG.....if it's something a bit more pricey, then WTB add here or on WRX for pulls. And i take a peak at the bay for pulls too.

You get 10% at VG, the discount varies at DTG (certain items there is no discount). IMO $25+ for a steel shaft is BS.

I think VG, DTG, and Hireko are the first stops for buying club components for the majority of members here, me included. If VG and Hireko are out of something particular I'll also check out Monark Golf. I haven't had any negative experiences with Monark but I think I've only bought from them 2 or 3 times. The vast majority of my purchases are with VG, DTG, or Hireko.

I forgot to mention my source for steel tapers. I get BRAND NEW PING pulls from eBay seller Proclubs. They are a company in AZ that does reshafting for PING. I just got a new set of AWT (Nippon) 6-GW for $22 total plus shipping. They come with melted ferrules, but are otherwise MINT. I put them in my Hogans.
