The total eclipse of the sun is big news here in flyover country as the eclipse will cross from the west coast to the east coast (first time coast to coast in over 100 years).

A city of 12,000 in SE Nebraska is expecting up 36,000 visitors because they have been designated a NASA viewing site and Bill Nye (weather guy) is doing seminars. Crazy.

In November last year, a charitable org I'm in set the schedule for our 'tour' around NE Kansas golf courses this summer. We had no idea the tour stop @ Sabetha CC would fall on the day of the eclipse AND Sabetha would be in line of the total eclipse! I jumped on board to help my buddy organize the event (70 miles north of Topeka) as this event is out of the 'box' from our normal events and routine. I recommended we have souvenir tee shirts made up and this is what they look like.

The itinerary is 11:45 cst sandwich buffet and then go to the deck to watch this amazing show unfold (safe viewing glasses donated by another member). The sun will be totally covered at 1:05 and total darkness will last about 2 minutes:15 seconds. When it is light enough to safely navigate, we'll saddle up and head to our starting holes at approximately 1:45 (?) and then have a steak dinner and refreshments when we finish.

The only thing that messes with our plans is rain and/or cloud cover during the eclipse.

That sounds way cool. Wish I could join you up there. Pix, please!

Looks like it will be about 200 or more miles South of me, but will try to see the effects if any in my area.
