  • WTB - High lofted driver - head or complete

Looking for something to build for my wife. Would prefer a head only, but I can pull a shaft if necessary. She had a 15° Alpha head that I picked up a long time ago that my son stole from her. Now she says she wants to play again and she needs a driver. I'll likely put some of those Synchron II or Super Concord fairways with it. I'd like to find something in the 15° up to 18° range... definitely no lower than 14°.

I've got a pretty beat up Wishon 730CL driver (16° non-conforming head, slightly offset) at 43" I could throw in a box for $10 plus shipping...it's not that attractive though.

If memory serves (I think the answer is buried on the Internet somewhere), Tom Wishon designed the face to be thinner to increase the CT/COR for a lower swing speed player and thus mimic performance that a higher swing speed player would get using a head made at the 0.830 COR limit. The face was designed to cave in if a higher swing speed player used it. USGA didn't go for that reasoning so he redesigned it with a thicker face. The conforming models have a 730CL-C marking.

HybridWood what shaft is in it? I think I want that head to use for my 10 year old. I'm not too worried about the looks of it. I'll likely build another for her soon if she keep playing and I won't be out much if she doesn't. Not worried about the non-conforming aspect either because she ain't gonna be playing any tournaments any time soon.

It has the Wishon 730CL Ultralight A/L combo flex shaft. I didn't put it together (although I did install a new GP DD Lite grip) so I don't know if it was tip trimmed or not.
