Some undoubtedly consider it an honor to play with an accomplished player like Omar in the field, and would probably consider it an additional feather in their cap should they win. Others, I'm sure, feel a bit differently.
I can see both sides. And I would personally not feel the need to do that if I were in that situation, out of respect to others who have never had the competitive opportunities and successes at a touring professional level. That said, I would definitely not be harping about it if I were one of the others. It just sorta comes across as sour grapes.
The other aspect to this is that (I think) winning this event gives the winner an automatic exemption to the upcoming PGA Championship. That, to me, is most likely why Omar genuinely wanted to compete in the event to begin with (if so).
