Hard to say LeBron is a better player than MJ. Equally hard to day that MJ is better than LeBron. Different players, different eras, different sets of circumstances. Championships don't mean everything to me - I think that's a cheap way to make a case when it happens to support your position. Is Tom Brady a better QB than Aaron Rodgers? I think AR makes a lot of throws Tom Brady never could.
The best way I have ever heard of (and I don't remember where I heard it) to try to determine the best basketball player is this:
Take the guy you think is the best, imagine you have 5 of him, and try to figure out whether they'd beat 5 of another player. This seems to highlight a truly complete player.
Can 5 LeBrons beat 5 Kobes? I feel pretty comfortable with "yes." LeBron can defend Kobe, I don't think prime Kobe defends LeBron at all.
Can 5 LeBrons beat 5 Jordans? Jordan would have a harder time stopping LeBron than vice versa because LeBron is so big for being so fast, I think. LeBron can shoot, pass, defend every position, and he's bigger and faster than just about everybody else. I think LeBron wins here too.
We are lucky to have seen these guys. They're amazing.
As for this finals, it's hard to see GS losing, but LeBron is a basketball cyborg. If Cavs stay healthy and focused and LeBron doesn't have to do everything himself they sure have a chance, and I would definitely like to see the Cavs win.
