Try to make it short. I recently bought a gap and sand wedge to match my set, replacing Cleveland wedges. I used the same shafts in the wedges that were in the Clevelands but did tip them 1/2" more than they were.
All my irons I hit with a draw, sometimes too much draw, but these wedges I hit dead straight, no real turn at all they just fall off to the left. I used to draw the old wedges.
My question is, could the 1/2" tip trimming have made this difference in ball flight? I'm thinking of tip trimming the rest of my irons if this would work on them, too.
My second question: How much distance might I lose if I play my current irons 1/2" shorter? Would it even be noticeable? I would be fine with ordering new shafts to keep the same lengths eventually, but just wondering if they'd be OK till I do.
