We got a new pro at our club this year and some members don't care for him (our last pro was beloved) but until yesterday I had no issue. We had a club tournament and instead of a shotgun start there were tee times. My partner and I signed up late so the choices of tee times were a few between 6:30-7AM or after 10AM. We picked 7AM because the round will usually be at least 30 minutes shorter even though getting up that early when you don't have to sucks.
We get to the club and the pro tells us he's going to make our group a 6-some because a team cancelled that morning. I thought they should just send the other team out alone but he seemed to feel they might cheat. They were supposed to tee off right behind us but the pro felt our group would be the fastest with 6...possibly true. We caved but then the pro put the extra team in the group in front of us which we then realized had one of the slowest players at the club. So we waited...with the group behind us...on every hole and the round actually took longer than some of the later rounds.
I know this is a First World problem but it did piss me off. I think the pace would have been better....especially for us lol...with the 2-some behind us and if golf is game of honor why not trust them to play it fairly? They were both long time members that have never been accused of any cheating. Thoughts?
