Taki27 Explain to me how you “prove” there were no fraudulent votes? That’s a ludicrous proposition.
OK, I'll try.......
The opposite of that is what actually would be ludicrous. Remember you need evidence to prove something. There's been studies across the U.S. and voter fraud rates are minuscule.
Most cases detected were mistakes like voting in the wrong jurisdiction or isolated individuals and not coordinated schemes.
A major academic study from the Brennan Center for Justice has repeatedly found fraud rates between 0.0003% and 0.0025%.
The Maine Secretary of State reviewed claims that 51 people voted twice in the 2024 election. Finding: Zero cases of double voting.
Most cases were issues with duplicate records, people with the same name and clerical / data errors.
Earlier investigations. College voters etc.. Claims that 206 Maine college students committed voter fraud. That investigation resulted in no fraud found at all.
Confirmed fraud cases in Maines 2020 election. 2 individuals were prosecuted for voting twice. So in this example Maine has had millions of ballots cast over multiple election cycles. Only a handful of confirmed fraud (like the 2 in 2020).
So it turns out many allegations of fraud turn out to be data issues, not actual illegal votes. And officials routinely clean up voter rolls (like removing duplicate registrations etc.).
Maine is a small state. Let's look at a large state like Texas. Ballots cast tens of millions. Investigations identified a few dozen suspected cases depending on the year. So the rate of vote fraud is ~ 0.01 %.
Let's look at another large state here in Florida. Ballots cast are millions each election. Governor DeSantis created an elections crime unit. They did make some high profile arrests (like prior felons restrictions voting).
But in many cases it involved confusion about eligibility. Not intentional organized fraud. Florida like Texas and Maine are all similar with extremely low voter fraud.
Bottom line. Technically voter fraud does happen, but it is extremely rare and tiny compared to total votes cast. And done by individuals and not organized.
Here's some examples.
Double voting. Reality is it's often snowbirds registered in two states. Some confusion about absentee ballots.
This is the most detected type. But still very rare.
Voting while ineligible. Mostly in states like Florida where felons thought they were eligible. Unclear on the rules restoring voting rights. Reality is it's often confusion and not intent to cheat.
Mail in ballots. This would include filling out someone's ballot improperly. Signature mismatches. Most flagged ballots are rejected (not counted). And many are technical errors and not fraud. Reality is actual criminal fraud here is very rare as well. Systems are designed to catch problems before counting.
The biggie that many conspiracy theorists worry about and thinks is happening. In person voting fraud. This type voter fraud is actually the rarest of all. The Brennan Center found only a handful of credible impersonation out of hundreds of millions of votes.
The Washington Post found covering multiple states that about 30 suspected cases of impersonation cases. Even data bases from groups looking for fraud like the conservative Heritage Foundation found very few impersonation cases.
Think about it. It's a terrible strategy to commit voter fraud. You'd need thousands of people coordinating to matter. High risk of getting caught. Poll workers check registration lists and someone might show up later and expose the fraud.
Plus there are serious penalties including prison time. And many states have systems that would flag irregularities.
Voter fraud gets attention because it's easy to imagine. It fits a false narrative in hopes of passing needless voter suppression laws. So it's a simple narrative even if the data shows it's extremely rare.
Again, what we really should be worried about. Trump committing voter fraud. He'll do it in the open. He's getting people used to it by seizing the ballots from the 2020 election in Georgia. Btw he went judge shopping and found a judge in Missouri to give his personal law firm (aka The DOJ) a search warrant. It's all bullshit.
He's said before that millions of illegals have voted. 🙄 As we know from above it's absolute bullshit. I have no doubt he'll try everything at his disposal. Including trying to seize voting machines, having ICE at polls and other voter intimidation tactics.
This is the voting fraud people should be concerned with. Trump trying to steal an election is real. Remember he asked the Sec. of State to find him 11,080 votes.
What's not real is imagining voter fraud that simply does not exist in any significant way to worry about. Believing in Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster is harmless.
Undermining our democracy by constantly falsely claiming massive en masse voter fraud by the President of the United States is what authoritarians do to cast doubt on elections to justify extraordinary actions.
This is why Trump loves autocrats like Putin. He really would like to have the power he has.
