puttnfool One day, while walking past a second hand store, I noticed old, used golf clubs in barrels and such in the window. I went in and found a complete set of older Wilson irons and the whole set of the woods, 1-4. My wife had just picked up an old bag at a yard sale the previous weekend(this is what made me curious looking in that window, and I have no idea why she even bought that bag!!)), so I threw them all together, stopped at K-mart and bought some tees and Top Rocks, then headed to the nearest course. Only played 9 holes, shot 42.
Thing about it was, I hadn't so much as even touched a club for 23 yrs.!!😜
Last 9 hole round I had shot 23 yrs, prior.......41. I remember because we played on a co. league, which my partner and I won the championship of; low 40s was my avg. for 9.
What shafts/flex was I playing? Who knows, either the 23 yrs. prior, or that 2nd hand set, except they were ALL steel. Killer thing is, I didn't even know there were these 'huge' 300+cc heads out at that time, with graphite shafts. Or "game improvement" irons and such. Would it have made a difference in my play/score????? I very much doubt it now.
Grab those old clubs from the basement, or thrift store, and go play. Decide after, about what you think you may need.
