Winter Olympics

Anyone watching? I have a couple of grips with NBC. On the luge trck, they are using drones to follow the sleds down the track. The noise they make is horrible and distracting. My other gripe is I have Sling TV and it has an NBC Sports Olympics on Demand channel. I think that is awsome, but they give away the results in the title of the program. I feel less inclined to watch having the results spoiled.
I am looking forward to the Mens Hockey starting. I feel like cheering for team Finland. They have a handful of players I root for. I won't be upset if team USA does well. I just want to watch some world class hockey.

I made the same comment to my wife while watching the downhill skiing. I really like the visual of the drone view, but you would think they could filter out that terrible drone noise.

I really dont care about much of the Olympics. All i really want to watch is the curling. Men's, Women's, mixed; doesn't matter i just want to watch it.
It looks like fun and im thinking i might have to find a place and try it out.

Yes why does it draw you in? The first time I watched it years ago I was laughing wondering wtf they were doing. But if it's on I watch it. I must be wired to watch boring sports because I like watching golf, bowling and curling lol. I do still like football and basketball too so I'm not completely mad yet.

That is one of my favorite events as well. Surprisingly, we have a curling club down here in the Phoenix area. I wish I had some friends interested in going to check it out.

Only watched about 20 minutes so far. Watched the women’s downhill briefly enough to see Breezy Johnson’s winning run, two Italian women, one German, and then Lindsey Vonn.

KCee the draw for me probably has something to do with how ordinary people can play and do well. I dont believe that one truly needs to play since childhood to do well, or compete against those of Olympic abilities. I think one can play for many years, similar to golf.
That and I think unlike golf, one should be able to pick up the game fairly quickly. One needs 3 things, ice, stones, and the brush. Not 14 clubs, and more spent on balls that the clubs!

mulegolf that makes perfect sense as it is cold and icy 6 months of the year. They need something to do aside from indoor sim golf.😂🤣😂🤣😂

Mattyv im not surprised there is one there. It can be done on a hockey rink with some surface preparation.
Find out when they're having a curling practice, or session and go check it out. Maybe find out when you could give it a try. I want to take a drive to L.A. and check it out as well. I am trying to find if someplace closer to me has curling to try.

Curling is pretty fun, should definitely give it a try if you can.
I can't imagine what it's like for the athletes trying to concentrate on what they're doing and having that screaming drone following right behind them.
USA women's hockey pretty dominant so far.

Ack8236 the downhill skiing, and such is amazing and I wonder if the athletes can actually hear the drone behind them. They are moving on that downhill snow.

Ack8236 My very first year in the golf industry, I ended up staying in Illinois winter because my short game was shit.

Anyway, Exmoor CC in Highland Park Illinois ( the club I was assistant pro at) has a curling rink. I ended up being the ICE PEBBLER .

Walking backwards at a fairly brisk pace, water tank on your back and swinging the little upside down hair brush looking thing, side to side to put the pebbly texture back on the ice.,

Walterjn I would guess it's similar to putting at a very high level. You need to read the slope, grain and hit your line with the right pace. Some players have more natural talent for that than others and then you still need to practice. I do agree you probably don't need to be bigger, faster and stronger to do it as compared to a pro hockey player.

KCee or basketball, football, soccer. You shouldn't have to worry about falling down a snow covered mountain and hitting a tree. I know ice isn't soft so falling won't feel good.
I still believe that one can play curling into old age and more than likely be competitive.
