VigilanteTrail SMT Brake Drum setup I saw here earlier but forgot who did that. That is mine š and no damn way I am giving it to my brotherā¦š¤£š
SMT VigilanteTrail What is the total weight? A big golf outing wants us to install grips at the end of the event for all of their guests
SMT VigilanteTrail LOVE IT! That is the one. Can you blow grips on with air on that thing and how big of a pain in the ass will it be for me to make? hahaha
VigilanteTrail SMT Can you blow grips on with air on that thing Yesā¦that is my only method these daysā¦donāt even have the catch tray on there anymore⦠Except for the rare times I use the traditional method for certain friends because I already know they grip the club too damn hard and will spin air blown grips over time š¤£šš¤£
VigilanteTrail SMT What is the total weight? It weighs 154 lbsā¦had to go back to the āLetās see your Benchā thread to get the data because I weighed it back in Feb 2024 when you first saw the picture of it
Typhoon SMT A big golf outing wants us to install grips at the end of the event for all of their guests I would kill myself. Stripping the tape alone off the shaftsā¦.
VigilanteTrail SMT Is it something I can make or rather, screw up making? If you have a good welder it isnāt all that difficult to build once you source a big azz brake drum, proper size pipe and a top plate for the vice to mount toā¦below you can see how the pipe is welded to the brake drum (with a circular filler plate) and the vice mount plate is welded to top of pipe
SMT hahaha, Can you tell me what size drum that is or what it is from? Same with the thickness or whatever for the plate and pipe specifics? Can I drive out and buy yours? hahaha Thanks again
VigilanteTrail SMT Can you tell me what size drum that is or what it is from? My good friend built it for me as a gift many years agoā¦I do know that the brake drum is from an 18 wheeler tractor or trailerā¦I am guessing the pipe wall thickness is 1/4 inch as well as the top plateā¦I could work on getting you some measurements if you end up seriously considering building something similar.
SMT Typhoon I agree, but they pay me well to raise a lot of money for them and there is nothing but time after the golf for my staff.
Birdsboro Youāre talking about hundreds and hundreds of gripsā¦.. Iām with this guy, I would kill myself.
SMT Finding a used 18 wheeler brake drum is harder than woodpecker lips. But I might have a bead on the first part. Thanks again!! Mike
azgreg SMT You can take a smaller brake drum and fill it with Quikrete then weld a plate over it. Another option is to drill a hole in the shop floor large enough for the pipe to fit in. When not in use the stand could be stored in a corner.
SMT azgreg Oddly, and I don't know how I am going to do it yet, this is destined to be a "portable" grip station. I might have to drive fast in reverse and slam the brakes to get it out.
SMT Bravopilot Bravopilot Actually it was a truck stop. They already scrapped all their stuff so he said in about two weeks or so he would have something.

For better stability, more maneuverability.
