The way I’ve always thought about it was twosomes have “no rights”. lol

In other words you just have to wait. Also, if you’re a twosome playing behind a twosome it’s up to the front twosome to invite you to join them.

Weirfan seeing as they were a twosome and the OP was as well invited them to join up and make a 4-some. This solves the problem and can even help the course out by freeing up one position.

That may be the polite thing to do but who would want to play with a butt hole like that?

having worked at a course for 8 seasons now and interacting with customers all day. Many golfers are decent folk but a big chunk are self-centered , entitled jerks....and I will add golfers are notoriously cheap when it comes to tipping F/B staff.

IMO, when you get matched up with others just be courteous and take the high road . Nothing anyone else does bothers me when I play other than them disrespecting staff or damaging the course

Weirfan You comment about tipping, at a private course? Not sure I understand tipping and golf. Frankly, only tipped at a private course for the guy getting the bag prior and post round. Same with Vegas. Never thought about others? Honestly asking, what am I missing? Is F/B Front/Back folks working the course? Interesting comment.

Being matched up by the starter is one thing but asking a jerk like that to join you is another entirely. I'd definitely
play with him if assigned by a starter but after he was a jerk to my wife and I, I don't think I could ask him to join us.

Sorry F/B means food and beverage. I see what these gals receive as tips and its pathetic most times. I'm not rich, am semi-retired with no pension, work 2 minimum wage jobs and do a few other things but always tip at least 20% minimum on food or drink I purchase.

IMO, its customary to tip the bag drop who loads/unloads you bag , maybe cleans your clubs. That rarely happens at our course which is mid-high end pay as you go. I notice that it is pretty standard when I visit the US ( I did 3 US golf trips this year = Florida, Wisconsin and Phoenix )

This time of year we start to get lots of private club guests as their courses close earlier. They are a bit better probably because they are used to it. Personally, I don't care if they tip me at bag drop/back shop but the Food and Beverage staff should are all Uni kids making minimum wage and work very hard. Our best tippers are the seniors in Senior league .

Here and there I have to deliver food to people on the 10th or 11th hole because they didnt follow the signage on 8 that says order your food here so its ready for you at the turn. Service with a smile and Maybe get a tip 1/10 times ....I just give it to the kitchen staff

Weirfan OK, sorry, should have thought of that. Sometimes I think about how much it cost with the food/drink cart plus tip on top of expensive stuff. Try to remind myself each time they didn't set the price.

Seems every place has a tip jar now and it hurts what I think of typical tip jobs such as F/B folks.

One of the reasons I dislike starting .....It's amazing the excuses some golfer will give to NOT have to be paired up with others. I've heard....

they are walking we are in a cart ( 20-30% of the players out there are walking whatbdoes it matter)
They are smokers and we are not ( so? )
We like to take our time ( wrong answer)
My favourite, we might have somebody joining us later ( ok go pay their green and cart fee to book that spot and we'll send them out to whatever hole you are on when they arrive.....crickets, or we have an open 4 some spot in 2 hours if you want to wait for them )

Actually, During Covid we actually had some people pay for the 4 spots in the tee time to be able play alone

Driving in the outdoors in separate carts and you cannot play with another 2 some because they mught spark up a cig, cigar or joint ?

Weirfan I do use the cigar (I smoke cigars on the course) to not ride with people I don't know, but not to play with-assuming they aren't dumping ashes anywhere, especially the green.

Yup, deal breaker. I'd rather pack my stuff and go home. That nasty smell goes a long way. Most times I don't mind cigars though.
