Automobile window tint

Have you had it done? What exactly? Carbon or ceramic? How much did it run you?

I'm getting the Challenger done, but don't know much about it. I've never had one tinted before.
I've got a quote from a 10 day old, local, small business for carbon, sides, back and sun strip for $250. They just opened their store front, but have been doing mobile, for a while. Good reviews.
I also have a quote from a local, established, small business for ceramic, sides, back and sun strip for $250. He's been around a bit and also gets good reviews. Both are Mason area, small, family owned businesses.

Hmmm, what to do? 🤔🤨

LBlack14 which one with keep more UV out? That would be the one I pick. Keep the interior cooler, and not fade the seats as badly. Also, who made the film? If 3M, you know it's quality stuff.

LBlack14 Look for Friday with Frank videos. He is a Deputy in AZ and they show many stops, many for window tint. I not heard of limo tint until I watched a few videos. I'm fascinated by the goofy people out there.

Whatever tint you go with stay within the legal limits in your area for the front drivers door and passenger door. Limo tint is dark and with your advanced age 😉 might be hard to see at night.
Every state varies on legal limits for front window tint. IMO I would do the whole car with whatever the front door tint is.

I've had it done many times over the years. Today's film is much better than from years ago.

Like Baab said, stay within legal limits because you're likely to get attention being on the Challenger. (I know I have on the Mustang).

$250 sounds reasonable. Although prices will go up with better quality film.

I've never been a fan of window tint. It's weird, I feel like I'm missing something. Can't see as well. Want to be aware of everything. I even prefer driving with the windows down for the same reason. Aslo have never been able or interested in sunglasses for the same reason.

Walterjn I went and met both shops, personally. #2 is the Brother/Uncle/Cousin of number 1. It's hilarious! He was the one answering my texts to #1, lol. Still 2 separate businesses. #2 gets the job.
Limo tint (5%) on the back sides and rear, 20% on the front 2 sides and 35% on the windshield. All ceramic, for $300, I'm very pleased. He took about 1/2 hour an answered all my questions, thoroughly and let me see the products, showed and explained to me the difference between carbon and ceramic(don't ask me to repeat it). Also let me take his personal vehicle, with the same tint, for a drive. Had a catalog with pictures of hundreds of jobs he's done, including a couple Challengers. I drop it off Thursday, after work and says he'll have it done before Beck gets off work @ 5:30.

LBlack14 sweet!! Absolutely hilarious that the shops are related. Maybe th poor reviews on #2 are from the relative at #1.
Glad to hear that #2 was able to answer all your questions, really nice that he let you take his personal vehicle for a spin to make sure you like the level of tint prior to having it installed on your car.

Evidently I'm getting ready to ask to be pulled over and ticketed. I had no idea about state laws. So far, I don't think I know anybody who complies, who've had it done.
Damnit, it shouldn't be this difficult. Not one business ever mentioned state laws.

I might mention those smoke taillight covers also. If they do not show up as 'red' ....for XXX number of feet, you are also going to get it. And now with the tints, they will be looking closely at everything. FYI😉
