I've been struggling with my driver(s) for awhile now. I've been finding it difficult to square up the face which results in mostly high fades or slices. I normally hit a straight or slight draw drive.
So, today I brought out my old Titleist 975D (10.5*) with a stiff stock shaft. I hit every fairway. Distance was close or, on a few holes, longer than my Cobra Aerojet or Tour Edge C722. The 975D has a wonderful feel and sound.
The large 460cc drivers have always seemed way too big to me. I prefer a smaller head and used to have great success with a Taylormade SLDR mini driver and the old Orlimar Hip Ti 420.
Anyone else feel more comfortable with a smaller size driver head? I wonder if a Titleist 905R or 983K driver (which has a little bigger head than the 975D) would give me a few more yards in distance.
Today was a real eye-opener for me.
