You understand me perfectly. I am certain that new clubs will not produce any magic. I just got a real nice set of Adams Pro a12 forged irons with Nippon shafts. Gonna bag those for a bit and see how soon I get bored. I played in an informal 2-man scramble today - me and a buddy against two other guys, captains' choice. I took out my 1978 Sam Snead Wilson Blue Ridge short set (3,5,7,9) an old Ben Hogan forged SW and a Tommy Armour blade putter (Wilson clone). We were all square into "18 and I sunk a 6 footer to win the match. My point is that these irons are dinosaurs - the 7 iron is a full inch shorter in length than my buddy's RBZ 7 iron and the loft is 2 full clubs weaker. It's a 9 iron with a 7 on the sole. I had to hit the 3 iron from 150y out! My iron game was not better or worse than with any other clubs, once I adjust for distance and I actually chipped quite well with these.
