DC300 No club is going to make me hit more FWs. I hit very straight anyway, even with the 46+/- drivers.
I'll not say the minis won't help others though. But, I will say it comes down to alignment + swing that makes any shot go where it may end up.
How's that for a political reply??😆

I may check out this Thriver mini to use as a FW club, but I don't see it being heavy enough to be called 'thriver'. The OEM minis are just too large for such purposes, unless in the hands of a Pro. But even then.....???

Par4QC I’m not sure there is a club that’s going to make me hit more fairways either, typically it’s alignment and swing that determines how far into the trees I’ll be for the shot.

I have a Callaway XR 3 Deep
14* PRO three wood in Excellent condition.
It has the Project X 5.5 shaft and
new Lamkin 360 Standard Grip.
It measures 42.5 inches in length.

Pulled this image from Hireko because it seems the waters have gotten murky with the Acer XV Mini Thriver. While it is closer in size to a 3W than a Driver, it is still noticeably larger than a standard 3W. The Mini Thriver is 221 CC, the Acer XV 3W is 171 CC and the Callaway XR 3 Deep previously brought up is 180 CC. That said, the R7 Quad Mini Driver is much closer in size to a Driver at 305 CC.

golfer_LD Compare to a 195cc 43.50" persimmon wood not much is different other than COR factors from persimmon wood to metal. ☺

Example Just Bros. Louisville Smart 2 persimmon head 11 deg. 235cc with a 44" graphite shaft is about the same for me in distance as any Thriver.

golfer_LD they are not all created equal for sure. Cobra Big Tour is essentially a slightly bigger fwy wood head but then it's about the same size as most TMag fwy heads. From my perspective there are plenty of good taller face fwy wood heads that would work. Then the bigger ones that are more reminiscent of an old school driver prior to bulbous heads advent.

ode Is this better? Same head on steel. This head at 9 deg. was the last persimmon head used on the PGA Tour by Bob Estes in 92. Things in driver really didn't do massive changes until the solid core ball came along in 2000-2001.

Louisville when the Just Bros. owned it used metal ferrules for a few years in the 90's. I tended not to use them as I didn't like the look. I got that head and reshafted and didn't pull the ferrule from the head is the reason it's still on that club. Lynx and a few other brands in the 80's and 90's used metal ferrules usually aluminum and they looked good.

Here's a Lynx Master Model iron.
