Shorter playing length easier center face impact. Seniors are only going to yield so much club head speed so shorter is more important fitting factor than longer as they won't swing more than a few 2 - 4 mph going from 43.50" to 45.50" unless they have a very athletic ability to make large turns. Large turns = injury for old duffers.

My Wishon 730CL is not to be used by 80 mph driver SS players. I push the envelope. I still get more out of a Ltdx Max but not any huge amount compared to the 44" 730CL. 85 mph SS isn't going to yield huge amounts of difference,

Seniors distance challenged pay money for stretching, rotation work with trainer than equipment is money better spent.

Probably a combo of shorter length, a bit more weight, and more loft = easier to hit. 20-25 yards further sounds about right for a fitting🙃

R7 Quad mini driver is considered a driver and is on the USGA list. So, not a 'hot' face/high COR.

Par4QC These guys liked the smaller head more than a standard driver head. Also I had them in the 13.5 degree head. Better for them than the 10.5 they most likely had. Also 3 wood length shaft like you said

So it sounds like it is closer to an old persimmon driver? just a little larger cc wise.

pellmell The TM website is a bit suspect when it comes to info about this club.

Specs show the stock shaft is a .355 tip, so if you do not like the shaft, you are basically stuck with it.....where will you find another .355 at that length?
But....if you custom order, the shafts are shown to have .335 tips.
Also interesting is, apparently, there are 3 types of adapters that can be used.....standard, flat lie, upright lie. Available only through a custom order, as far as I can see, for the flat & upright.

Par4QC it’s not a .370. I use a Taylormade 3 wood shaft in it for fittings for something other than stock…. Same thing

May I ask if you let those 2 fellas try the different shafts/adapters? Or are we just to 'assume' this takes place at 'fittings'?
Or do they say 'this is fine...I'll take it', with the stock club?

Par4QC There is only one adapter. I got a baseline on his driver. Put in a softer shaft, the Air Speeder. The stock shafts in the 2 we had were regular and stiff flex. Didn’t have a stock senior shaft for it. Anyway, he loved the Air speeder, killed it. He was crazy happy …. Sold

The other guy hit the stock shaft and immediately wanted it.

Typhoon Seems odd to me the setup that TM has with their fitters. I can order a 'custom' mini and have my choice of lie angle. It makes me think there are 3 different adapters they use. But you are using just 1 of them. Then with the shafts, the stock is shown as a .355 tip, while any custom pick is .335.
Like I said....odd to me.

You said you used the FW shafts for fitting. How heavy is this mini head? I'm under the assumption, being it is a 'driver' that it would be around 200 gr.. And a shaft trimmed for FW use would not be reasonable for fittings.

I have a Acer XV Mini Thriver that I've really liked. I generally always hit it into the fairway or the first cut, unless I'm slicing that day then nothing stands a chance of hitting the fairway. It's a combination of shaft length and head weight that for me really allows me to make consistent center contact. I'd assume those using the R7 Mini are experiencing the same thing, with some added forgiveness since the R7 Mini is closer to driver then fw, unlike the XV Mini.

I'm actually reshafting my XV Mini this weekend and putting in a steel shaft. I'm going for a slightly shorter/heavier setup for control this season after have good success last year with a steel shafted DI.

I'd love to give a thriver a try. I'm thinking in the 12°-13° range with a steel shaft. Are these trimmed to driver or 3w length?

azgreg iirc they(R7) are a 'long' 3wd....about 1/2" longer than standard of such.

I'd like to know the head weight.(??)
