MS Dropping Windows 10 Support This Fall - What Is Your Gameplan?n?

Most I think know that that Microsoft is dropping support for Window 10 this fall. There is a test to use to see if your PC qualifies for an upgrade to Win 11. My two PC's do not. You can still use them but I am guessing less than ideal stuff will start happening over time. MS recommends getting a new PC. Well, how nice is that? My PC's are 10 year old Dell's desktops that work just fine for me. I have upgraded everything I can including SSD's. I have heard that MS might offer a paid for subscription for continued support. I can't believe that they will be abandoning millions of loyal supporters. What are your plans?

Rickochet We're dealing with this at work. We are buying new PC's as many of ours were so old that we should have bought new ones years ago.

There is an option to purchase an extension from Microsoft. I believe it was $61 per PC in year one, but then doubles in year 2 IIRC.

What I have to look at is they upgraded my work laptop but the guy in IT left the single in the usb port. If that has 11 on it, I’ll do my laptop at homes too

Windows 11 at work. I'm sticking with 10 at home for now.

Sticking with Win 10 on desktop.Like it much better Win 11 which is on my laptop. I may move to an Apple computer…I like my IPad and the operating system works very well with no problems…Microsoft is slowly losing me as a user…Tired of having to “rent” my software from them…

For the techy types and non-dinosaurs. There are always Linux distributions. I'm old and if I can do it others can also. I run Linux Mint and have used other Linux distro's in the past. Mint is very close to a Windoze experience.

Plus your old PC will run Linux faster than it ever ran bloated Win.

If interested I'd read up on Linux and cut the cord to MS. There is a lot of info. on Linux out there. BTW you the user/owner are in control thru the distro Terminal. Never fear mistakes can be made and fixed/reversed and all software is Open Source. It's more for the user that owns there net experience rather than letting MS make the rules. Nothing to be afraid about and if you are like the old codgers on G'Buzz you gotta lot of time to experiment.

Standard Ubuntu is a good Linux option. It's a plug and play distro that "just works" for most.

Most of anything MS Windows related continually changes, they just to try to add more costs
to stuff that used to be included with Win 10,11 etc..... is kind of a borderline scam!
Take for instance using something as simple as WordPad,used to be free now they want you to pay
$1.99 per month for cloud storage....even though we have about 93GB free space on our PC.

An Open Source program that the majority of Linux distro users use. That and a lot of other Open Source programs are what Linux is about and the power is in the hands of the user.

My Windows 10 laptop was falling apart. I bought a Windows 11 laptop. That's my plan.

For a loonngggg time at work I used a 486, because IT couldn't figure out how to transfer a program I needed into a newer one.
Most of what I use my home computer for will still work for awhile.
