bigshank Saturday is the worst day to play.
In the past few years I have had every other Friday off (because I worked every other weekend), so I took to playing on Fridays. Over the past year I have begun to get some Mondays. Those are even better!

rsvman2 I love Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Quiet, very quiet, so much better than a Saturday.

I don't know how much it would take but I do know it would be a lot less now than it would have been 25 years ago.
I still have the "want to" but my back keeps saying, "don't". I'll get out there this season yet but not nearly as much as in the past.

Par4QC even a big pile of money I’d be miserable. There isn’t anything I like doing nearly as much to compensate for the hole that would leave.

bigshank I know what you mean. Golf is about the only thing I have going on in life. Except for mowing my damn yard a couple times/week during the same season.

Par4QC I cut the grass every 3 -4 days. Sucks. And I can’t trim it every week. Takes up too much time. I could easily give up golf and fill the time with working, yard care, fixing shit that breaks and errands

I like mowing also, truth be told. Always enjoy doing something that makes something look different/better.
Need the exercise anyway.

My old neighbor used to mow, sometimes walking. Shoveled his drive also, and had a snow blower. His kids finally made him stop and move in with them a couple years ago. He passed away a few months back at age 93!!

I don't want to be ol' Henry, the former neighbor. Stop doing something.......stop living.

I can't stand cutting the grass. Won't do it. My wife does it. We hired 3 services she fired them all for not being good enough? Then I hear about how tired she is after doing it. I tell her to hire a service then she can just go out and fine tune what they miss, whatever that is. Would take a half hour rather than two. Nope. I will say our lawn looks nice.
i actually don't mind doing the snow, though.

Absolutely. Walking my lot behind a mower would literally kill me. I still have to huff the string trimmer up and down the hills.

To answer the ? ....enough to buy or build my own course, the equipment to maintain it, and staff to do the work.. I would rename it something else other than golf and live happily ever after🤪

OMG that's funny! Years ago my wife said she would mow the lawn for the same reason. Lawn service guys mowed down flowers twice and that was it. Unfortunately my wife was constantly trashing the mower and I was spending more time fixing it than I had been mowing. She drove over the dog run, she crashed it into the shed several times, etc. I couldn't let it continue. People said she probably did it on purpose to get out of mowing, but considering how she drives I think she is just that bad 😞

Just 2 winters ago he was still living across the street. We got a helluva snowstorm and my kids came over the next morning and was doing my drive. I looked out and ol' Henry was out with his shovel. I told the kids and they hightailed it over and stopped him and cleared it for him. Never really knew until that day how old he was til he told them he was 91. He was always busy and I think that kept him going.

I know I've gone to shit since I quit working. 😣

I was away for work for 3 days one winter. It snowed and my wife is screaming at me on the phone . Now I’m in a car with other work people and they’re looking at me saying,” it’s snowing and she yelling at you….”

So she goes out to use the snowblower. I come home and the heater box is in pieces, bolts are missing, the plastic choke knob is sheared off level with the engine. Anything she touches….
