Excluding bucket list courses, what's the most you'll pay for a nice course?

I'd have to say $50.
No course is going to impress me enough that I would spend a shitton of money just to see it. Let alone post a sickening score on the card.

There are plenty of private courses that are as nice or nicer than some of the pro courses.
25 years ago the water bill at Dove Canyon averaged $60,000 per month for recycled water.

jsippy73 Hmm, I moved here in 97, and it was Dove Canyon by then. I think it opened in 92 or 93, so it may have been something different. I'll ask around.

Oh, here's a video of Nicklaus playing "Dove Canyon" in 91. There's no housing around it yet. too cool.

Probably $100. We travel quite a bit and if you go to tourist areas you won't find much below $100. I'll pay $200 to play Wolf Creek again and paid $225 to play Arcadia Bluffs in Mi.

Depends, when my friends and I used to meet in Vegas, we did high ($150) mid ($75) then low ($35); when we use to meet at Olympia Fields south of Chicago, private club we paid $125/150 depends on the course, plus cart fee. I will not pay $75 now to play with people I don't know.

Most I have paid is $225 at Butch Harmon's course, Rio Secco, outside of Vegas. Great views and cool hole set ups.

Same goes if I join the Desert group here in the Fall. Willing to pay more then but not at home.

pellmell I would pay $100 for a decent course, which is pretty much the going rate for a non-muni public course by me. I would go up to $150 for a really nice course but would only do it occasionally and wouldn’t be overly enthused.

$150, I guess, for a nice course. Way more for a destination course like Pebble Beach or Ozarks National.

$100, but that's only if absolutely necessary. $75 , IMO is a lot and pushing it. Looking forward to some correction and golf coming back to reality. It's getting out of hand to play at any regular clip. Membership, coupon book/s, and hidden gems that don't soak you (yet)!-->that's the only way it's affordable for an avid golfer who isn't rich!

We're pretty lucky here in MI yet. I can play mid (very mid) level to low level courses for $28-$35 but that's senior weekdays. Best course in the area ($110 weekends) is $49 senior weekday. One dump by me is $18 for 18 on Tuesdays.

Seymore101 That’s the thing people forget about when they want to move to warmer climate to play golf. They get all excited and then see their $40 18 hole round doubles and will end up playing less. Or just to afford golf now they have to seek out the one cheap place and just play there.

So many places have residents rates so it's not as bad as being a tourist. We played a course (forget where) but we paid $100 and played with a local who paid $40. He said he was playing a couple days later and if we wanted to come back he'd get us on for $40. Lots of Vegas area courses double the price for tourists. I don't mind an extra $10 or $20 but double is crazy. I'd gladly buy a fake NV drivers license just for the golf.

Typhoon Honestly Tucson had some fair rates, but the cost of living there was much more reasonable than Vegas is. There were some resorts courses that were higher, but still more in line with what I was used to in Indiana.

Exactly why we went to Tucson instead of somewhere else in AZ. Greens fees in other areas were astronomical but we played some nice courses in Tuscon for a decent price. The nicest and most expensive course (AZ National, I believe) was $110, would've been double that easy in Phoenix. Most were around $50 I think.

Not on the level of the courses that Yinz play, but $299 for a membership for one year. New millionaire owners in the process taking it back to its old glory.
Annie and others played here back in the day. Even some match play. Great layout and challenging smaller greens with lots of break.
