Lots of machine shops in my area, over 150 at one time. Machine movers too. My area was called ,"Tool City, USA". I worked 50 years as a tool and die maker. The invention of the "Talon Zipper" spurned the machine tool industry. People learned the trade working there and went off to start their own shops.
One of my sons went to visit another son in LA CA., saw a shop and stopped to see what they do and offered him a job on the spot. They knew of our area in Pa.
