mulegolf My idea of a good vacation is my wife and I get into the car with the idea of a destination but no real timeline.
We drive where we want to each day and when we get someplace we want to stay for the night (or two) we stay there.
When we decide to leave that location we do so. We finally end up at our destination and stay for as long as we want to and then head home like we did in heading to our destination. We haven't been able to do this many times but that's my preferred way to travel.
Anyone Else Here Hate Going Anywhere?

Now she’s looking to book her friends time share for us in Maine this summer
Typhoon I thought she did not like you? Lots of fun time together planned
Bravopilot If I’m miserable, she’s happy. It’s another week she keeps me away from golf, the course for work and my friends there

It wouldn't be if you didn't go. Tell her you'll be fine if she goes alone.
Them stomp your right foot after saying that, turn, walk away.
It is sometimes what husbands have to do. Wives like doing that every day.(so it sometimes seems)
Even when the husbands are not home.
Be a man!!
We're homebodies. When we put our pool in (in) 2005 we said no more vacations. We already live in a vacation destination. Went to Hawaii in 2013, but it was basically free because my sister is a Disney vacation member.
I never like driving very far for anything. Always lived close to work etc.. The furthest we drive now is ~ 3 hours when my family comes down to their vacation home across the state on the east coast of Florida. We'll be going over their this month.
We did all our traveling when we were young before we bought a home. No desire to go anywhere now.
We like to travel.
I loved travelling in my younger days. Farthest I got was Tahiti. Had plans for Australia and Southeast Asia but spent the last 5 years taking care of my Dad. I mean I could have gone but I was his sole source of entertainment so to speak so I just wouldn't go for more than a week. Then when he got less mobile and it became more work to get him out of the house that my sister couldn't do it and I didn't want to put it on anyone else we never left for more than overnighters the last couple years.
Now that's he's passed we can go anywhere we want but age has caught up to me where I don't want the hassle. My wife still wants to go places though.
We drove to Florida and stayed a month. That was great because we had no timetable we could get there when we wanted . I'd like to do more of that. Throw the clubs in the trunk and drive, just meander with only a minimal plan.
I love getting away be it just for the weekend or longer. Have 6 trips ( 2 fishing , 4 golf ) planned between May and end of Oct.
It does require some planning and preparation . Someone to look after pets and I have 5 properties that I do the maintenance so need to get all that dealt with before I go. And of course the return is always busy for a week catching up but nothing beats a fun getaway with friends and or family

Typhoon My brothers wedding, I’m hoping they cancel it. He only wants the presents. He’s been married before and lives with this one now. Why bother
Maybe it's a thing up here vs down there but I have been to numerous 2nd weddings and all have stipulated NO GIFTS. Some have asked if you want to make a donation to the church or name a charity
I think one reason they do so is because people have already given the first time around and they don't want to place that burden and probably because people might just say FU, how many times are you going to do this.
The other thing is they tend to be very small weddings with just close family and friends maybe 30-60 people although one was 300 but it was her first marriage and his 2nd and she was Italian.
It's your brother so you cannot IMO, not go but if you shelled out for a big/expensive gift the forst time he got hitched, I would have no qualms about giving a big nothing this time around

Going to Ireland this summer for golf (5 rounds in 6 days). Might go somewhere else this year if finances and circumstances allow it - although not necessarily for golf. I don't think that I will ever be tired of seeing the rest of world, and I'm very thankful that in my retirement I might still have the opportunity to do so. Apparently you only live once, so you might as well take the opportunity to make the most of it!

These days I hate going to work. The guy that works adjacent to me (different position) is out on his 2nd medical leave in 2 years. The first one was over a month....so far he's been out 2 weeks. I'm waiting for management to push his job on me.
About 4-5 months ago it was decided that to split his job into 2 people and the already had someone picked to train, but it never happened so they don't have someone to help back up his position. It seems that you 1) either get hired arriving from another country and there are few expectations or 2) you have everything but the kitchen sink tossed at you and if you say anything you have a bad attitude.
I enjoy being home. Used to run all the time. I enjoyed going to Payton's games, but hotels were hell, since I can't sleep in a bed. I enjoyed the Mrs and my trip to 'ichigan last summer, for a couple days, but no sleep. Hell, I been up most of the night, tonight, sick. Just told work I'm a no-go.
My wife and I are homebodies. We much prefer to stay home than travel. Fortunately, if we do go on vacation its pretty much one time a year. We are going to drive to Buffalo for a niece's wedding this June, but not being invited to go to any other weddings is fine with us.
Headed to Florida for grandaugher HS graduation in May and California for niece's wedding in September.
