Rickochet Yep, I can remember my mom doing that when we went to my grandmother's place in north NY every summer. We used the outhouse and used a shared portable tub--just add slightly hot water from the stove. Used a burn pit in a barrel. Never thought it was odd. We didn't have anything on the walls of our house like my friends until my folks got into paint by numbers. They were pretty good at it too. Still have one painting.
