Picked up 2 dozen TM Project (a) from Meijer on clearance last month. I played them at the beginning of last season and liked them a lot. Also like the NXT Tour and ProV1X. The later are on sale at my local GG for $39/doz. I tend to play a lot of what I find, also.

I have been using the Wilson Staff Duo since it came out. Using the yellow ones for the the last two years. I used to buy them when Golftown would put them on sale for 2 for 1and now have 11 dozen on hand. I ususally find more balls than I lose. The Prov's and similar balls I give to a friend(who will buy me a dozen balls or something at the end) of the season and the rest I hit out onto out driving range.

Straight off the driver is my key criteria and I have found that most TM (esp the Burners) and Bridgestone E6+ are best. The Wilson DX and PX are good for this too, but lack feel off the putter.

I always try decent pick-up finds, but have yet to find a prime grade ball that holds consistent straight for me on drives. Good balls (e.g. Pro V1) I pass onto partners. Cheap 2-piece are range fodder.

Probably difficult to get the Burner and E6+ now, so need to find another go-to.

I've been on a kick with Wilson Staff balls lately. The Duo and 50. I like them and they're pretty cheap ($12-$20 a dozen).

Play as the greens and fairways firm up - Pro V or major brand urethane - but most of the time Pro V because it is the most popular premium ball.

Winter and play when the course and greens are soft - prefer a "soft" ball - brand not important, but find more Callaway supersoft than any other brand.

I am a member at a links style course with heather lined fairways. I always end up with more balls in my bag than when I started. This is especially true when the pace of play is slow or playing with a few friends who tend to spray their tee shots.

Wilson duo is the shizzle! I got these Bridgestone Treo Soft so cheap tho, they won out. Rockbottom golf.

My favorites are either the Top Flite Gamer or the Callaway Super Soft ( my current ball of choice). But I think it's really important to use the same brand and type of ball as often as possible. A lot of the guys I play with will start with a Top Flite, lose it, dig in their bag and pull out a Titleist, and proceed to switch 2 or 3 more times before the round is through. That's no way to develop consistent feel, IMO. I try to open a dozen and use that ball exclusively until they're all gone. Then I might try a different brand or type of ball......

Yah- I just scored 2 doz Kirkland Signatures at the Costco in Charleston, SC. Had 2 pallets of them on the floor.
On Thurs will see what the buzz is all about. Otherwise, it's back to the MG's.

Yes they did, so I bought 4 dozen from a Used ball retailer, but I think this may be the last of them when I finish what I have now.

Trispeed Tour's are good balls for the price. I use them in yellow.

I bought 2 dozen a couple years ago from a used ball web site. The thing I found with Srixon balls from a used ball re-seller was that the coating that Srixon puts on their balls to assist spin seems to not react well to the chemicals used to wash them. The balls (at least to me) don't seem to stop as well on the greens, comparing rewashed used balls to new balls. It may be "all in my head" but it seems that way to me.

Pro V1 new ones. Expensive but I think they cannot be beat for around the green. Distance is fine.

I guess it depends on how old the balls are. When did they start to put the spin skin coats on Srixon balls? When I started playing the sl ball it did not have that coat it was just a normal ball.

I'm not positive. I know that the Q-Star had it in 2013 (though I've never used those). Golf Galaxy still is selling those (2013 model). The regular Z-Star's also had/have it. I guess I'm not sure I read that the SL's did (but I thought I did when I ordered them), but they were between the Z-Star's and the Q-Stars so I can't believe they wouldn't have had it also.

I get my balls at Goodwill in a grab-bag for 10 to 15 cents a ball (on 50% discount). I don't really care what I am playing with, but for whatever reason I never play well with ProV1 balls.

I use Costco golf balls. I get them from Costco. And I get a hot dog.
