Is anyone using one? Does it seem to help?

I use a Superstroke countercore, but I've put a backweight in my putters for many years now. I did a fitting back ~ 2006 and I had a backweight in my putter and the fitter said "do you really need that?". I hadn't used it long and wasn't sure, but we went through the fitting and he finally said "yup you're better with the backweight". I have backweights in all but my 8-P, SW, GW and LW.

Sometimes I just put a backweight from Hireko/Value Golf in the shaft and then use the regular Superstroke Flatso 1.0 that I like. It's the same either way.

KCee How much back weight do you use?

bad9 It depends on the weight of the grip. I've used 50 to 100g. Right now I think I have a 75g weight in it. I usually try to have 120-140g or so total IIRC.

I use Superstroke FLATSO 17" on all my putters. No to the counterweights tho. I like to feel the head at the other end.

Was it Jack Nicklaus that got credit for starting this by putting coins under the butt end of his grips?

azgreg I think I read that he would backweight some irons and woods too. I first read about that on FGI I think. I could not hit my 4 & 5i at all, stuck a relatively heavy lag bolt in the end one day and I've been backweighting ever since.
