I just got two "carrier adjustments" charge notifications from PirateShip. Both claiming that UPS says the box was 49", not 48" (even though it says 48" right on the box AND I measured it), AND weight adjustments: one from 18 pounds to 40 pounds and the other from 5.5 pounds to 40 pounds. This totaled almost $100 in upcharges. I've disputed them both, but am not optimistic. I weigh and measure my shit before I ship and I don't think I can get 40 pounds of clubs in a 48x6x6. Beware!šŸ˜”šŸ¤¬. Something is fraudulent here.

    Ground, Select, Air?
    Was your card charged?
I always drop off at a UPS store, which weighs the package and get a receipt.

5.5 to 40 lbs should be something you could obviously point it to themā€¦. Itā€™s not like itā€™s off a pound. So many things wrong there. Iā€™d tell my credit card company that its a bogus charge

This has happened to me a few times. Usually with usps. But pirate ship is so good. Every time I used the ā€œdisputeā€ mechanism and every time I got the extra $ back

sdandrea1 I don't use them any more; quit several weeks ago.
No trust. I'm set in my ways. And I'm not paying much more via ShipStation/PP.

This!!! But the dumb shit they try to charge you for is just that, dumb shit.

I pointed it out in CAPITAL LETTERS. šŸ˜”

sdandrea1 Had the same thing with the 48X6X box--they recommended I always add 1 inch as boxes compress at times and it depends on the scanner at the time with UPS. The weight difference makes no sense. Pirate Ship did credit me back when I complained. I now take to UPS store and have them measure.

Bravopilot If any doubts on lengths, add 1".
Anything even slightly over goes to the next anyway. 46 1/4= 47. P.O. always pulls out their damned sewing ribbon/tape. It stretches, unlike a yardstick. I don't go there with anything long any more anyway, but UPS also does the 'over' measuring.

sdandrea1 Fractions of an inch will go to next size. Not sure with UPS, but the next size may be an 'oversize' flat rate charge, like the P.O. has now.

im assuming UPS dings PS and PS hella dings you. Happened once with USPS and PayPal/ShipStation. I called and would not get off the phone until they reversed the charges.

One time someone shipped something to me from out West and they (UPS shipper/access points) measured the box over 48" and charged the seller a lot more than if it were 48" or under. I measured with my bench ruler and it was under 48", I called the UPS affiliate and complained, got their email and sent them pics. No response. What they said over the phone was that the box dimensions listed on the box are "inner dimensions".

Yep, I learned to take pictures of the dimensions and weight of every golf box going to UPS. They seem to flag anything over 45" and say it is over 48" which requires oversize charges.

Luckily, the appeal through PirateShip is easy. Load up the pics and submit. I've won the appeal every time so far.

Note - I now have a folder on my hard drive with pictures of a 46x6x6 box (against a 48" ruler), and half a dozen pictures with a golf box at different weights. So I don't have to take new pictures every time.

I may need to borrow one of those pics- Iā€™ll know soon if Iā€™ve been dinged. šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

I've read this whole thread, shaking my head.
It's bad enough people are getting hit with 'irregular' shipping charges, but the worst thing I'm taking away from this is.....everyone hates their drivers!! Apparently, they are being cast aside like rotten mulch, in the Spring.

                  šŸ¤£

If this is overcharging is prevelent, perhaps a class action lawsuit is warranted. Anyone know a lawyer?
