Well, I did it again. 🙁 Yesterday I'm sitting on the 18th tee, a fair, but challenging par 5. I'm 1 over.
I hit a decent drive, but end up in a ugly, down- and side-hill lie, and the lie is pretty ugly. I decide to hit a "safe" hybrid and push it badly into the trees. It's a jungle in there, so that ball is gone. Reload. Hit the second hybrid on almost the exact same line. Dropping: hitting 6. Almost do the same again, but thankfully the ball drops short of the trees.
The pin is at the back of the green, 95 yards away, which is almost a perfect SW for me. Thin it. It is going fast when it hits the path behind the green and bounds into the bush. When I locate it, I'm about 25 feet inside the treeline, in an unplayable lie under a log. Lying 7 with any drop I give myself being dead, I pick up fearing a Kevin Na like meltdown. I figure if I give myself Na's 14 (I'm not giving myself the Na 2-stroke penalty for reviewing the video before signing my card), I shoot an 81. 🙂
