In Mobile ALA didn't use it a lot. I loved the attic fan much more, when dad put it in. Before that push bed up as close to window as possible and pray for any whisper of a breeze . Didn't realize how happy and rich we were.
Next project Ping Eye 2 refurbishing
We had a swamp cooler once. Worked pretty good in the dry Texas heat. Fit into the window of the trailer.
I'm with Steve on this, pulling shafts on Pings isn't hard, I do 3 at a time, use a propane torch and heat one up, move to the next, then on to the next, back to the first one and do that 3 times total, it lets the heat sink in to the metal more and that generally gets the bond to come loose nicely with no browning. I do the three at a time method because I'm impatient and WAITING for heat soak is too much for me to handle, keep busy with others and it's fine. Takes about the same time as any other club if you do it this way. I typically will something similar on graphite pulls, but I pre load into the puller, put it under a little pressure, heat a little, let it sit, little more pressure, heat if it's not loose, and so on, I hate burnt hosels so I go slow.
sdandrea1 Agreed, the Pings do clean easily, Especially if you intend to clean up the heads anyway it's no big deal. I just learned to do it this way to avoid the browning and haven't had an issue since, so I set up shop to go this route. Some clubs are really easy to jack up, pings are like bull dozers.

Wondering what graphite shafts you plan for your newly aquired Eye2s.
0I am just going to use the stock steel ones in my junkers until I come across a "deal" on some pulls probably . Wondering if I shouldn't try something in "A" Flex this go round. Do you/can you soft/hard step graphite shafts like steel? Suppose I'll have to bore hossels to . 370 since so few .355 shafts are available . I'll need some advice on best way to go there too . KISS principal is my friend .

I got some First Flight 85g graphites off eBay. They arrived today. $49 including shipping for 3 to W. They are precut to length. Just prep the tips, assemble and butt trim to desired length......possibly no butt trim required. Instead of boring the hosels, I have found it much easier to sand down .370 shafts to .355 for the last 5/8 inch. I use digital calipers and sand, measure, sand, measure, etc., until the lower tip of the shaft is .355. You can ream or bore the hosels if you like.....I found it easier to sand the shafts. TONS of graphite choices in .370. I'm one cheap bastage, tho.
Just finished the shafting.
sdandrea1 more pics plz
Do you sand tips down all by hand or use belt sander? Those look shiny new
Hand sand. More pics coming.

The Brunswick Microtapers were similar to having 1/2" galvanized pipe as a shaft. Karsten sent out most of the Eye 2 BeCu irons with the Microtaper. He used the ZZ Lite in the SS heads. Why the difference? I'm sure he had a good engineering explanation. I really do believe you will find another shaft choice a welcome change.
My Eye 2+ BeCu set has the newer JZ shafts. That has been a great combo, even though I've pretty well confined them to the basement and given the old body irons with more flexible shafts to work with.

"First Flight" should be the "Wright" shaft to use, Steve!!!!!

You forgot the ferrules.
I never really noticed actually. I've heard people say that about them.
I should take my old ss eye2 irons with the zz lites and compare them. I'll have to put some 7 irons in the car. Tonite would have been a good night to hit them on the gc2 since I'm woking. Maybe next week. It should be interesting...I can get all 4 7 irons on the same spreadsheet.
Those look sweet, Steve.

Played Pine Creek GC with my "new" Eye 2, & eye + irons today. Drop dead gorgeous day . The old Ping irons with zz lite shafts did v well mostly . Accurate distance and good direction control. Went up one iron # on most holes. But i Made a really bad fat hit with #7 iron on 3rd, a short parr 3 hole that made left wrist just go numb. Thought I'd have to quit for the day because I could hardly hold the clubs but kept going , hard headed old fool. Course had a tournament going , so slow had play behind 3 cart group but still finished in little over 4 hrs.
Tripled 1,3 playing from members tees. Met up with a lone course regular Sr player on #5. He wanted to pair up, so had partner for rest of day which always helps. Managed to still shoot my index after dropping back to Sr tees and wrist quieted down. Jim Seems like nice Ole duffer & He talked me into joining his group for Wed. blind draw scrambles, acronym ROBs aka Retired Old Basterages. Maybe it will be fun, $30 for green fee, cart, lunch, prizes. The course handles heavy rain well so it is good choice during the Monsoon season we're in. Wore my Bama Polo and used Bama bag, so I caught mischief from Mississippi fan's .
After today , it's asprin & Ben Gay time. May have to grudgingly return to my graphite shafted clubs next round . Mobic is the old geezer's friend.
