The last couple months of the season I putted “lights out”. I know I changed putters and was blaming it on that but it’s not the club so much. It’s the change I made in my tempo. I’ve done this before and somehow , because it’s golf, you go back to old habits. It really needs to be noticed and practiced for it to stick.
So what I do is a a split second pause between backswing and forward swing. I stop long enough to consciously start the forward stroke. It’s not a 2 second stop but it is a pause and I mentally feel like my forward stoke is now online. And it has been. So it’s not a continuous stroke back and forth really and it helps keep your lower body still. This way it’s not like a full swing.
I just wanted to post something that has made a big difference for me that really affects scoring. My hope is maybe this will help out people.
