How far out is the delivery/setting date for that?

I got caught in the 'Covid-stuck-at home-so-we'll-redo- kitchens-and-bath' era. With everyone getting free money and being at home, they all were doing remodels. It gutted the granite and marble industry. I was given a timeline of 6 months out. That took a bad turn when the fella that owned/ran the monument company (with his wife) & also did the engraving, passed away. She kept it going and stone was finally set 1 year after ordering.

He was very upfront with that. He basically told me what you said. It could be 6 mos.. It comes from a quarry in GA and engraving is done on site by the same company. We picked a basic stone from their brochure and hopefully they might already have a blank stone cut. I need to get some details firmed up with the cemetery tomorrow and when I get that info the order will go in and we will know more. I have limited choices. The funeral home who did everything else also does the monument. They gave me a very reasonable price based on info I could gather on the web. They have been great helping us through this. Getting past this is another step forward.

Hell, I've changed nothing here; everything is pretty much right where she had it/left it. Call me looney, but we lived here for over 20+ years. Why should I change anything?

I may change her 'Elvis' room. I've been working on it, but it's hard. Been thinking it would help with the getting past it part.

I agree and I'm doing ok. You can't wipe it away or put it away and I don't want to. I don't plan on living in the past. I am moving on but I will still remember. We met on a blind date and ham & egg'd it from the get go and did everything together. I have nothing but nice memories from our 39 years. But you never want it to end. Believe it or not we never had an argument in 39 years. We always talked things out if there was a potential issue and always went to bed happy.

Rickochet glad you have good memories of those 39 years my friend! Nothing better than spending your life with your best friend, and never having an issue you couldn't talk out.
I'm sorry that it all has come to an end, however it sounds like you have a good way of dealing with it all.
Keep it up, and if it would help, I wouldn't mind hearing a bit about her.

I have resisted commenting on this because I'm new and this will mean nothing and make me sound like I'm trying to be a good person but I wanted you to know that I cried when I read your post of your wife's passing. Those same tears are back looking at this picture.

My heart aches for you and what you're going through. I'm so happy you had a life with her. The price of love is severe sadness and it's a cost I'm sure you'd pay over and over again.
