So many great performances. In fact - there was an old flick of his on the other night, "In the Name of the Father." I'd awakened in the middle of the night, couldn't go back to sleep right away. Turned on the television and this movie had just started, so I figured I'd just eventually fall asleep. Damn if I didn't end up getting caught up in it, and stayed up until 4 a.m. watching all of it.
Very interesting flick, based on a true story. He looked like a little kid back then. That was released back in '93. And of course the year prior he starred in "The Last of the Mohicans" which was undoubtedly his breakthrough role.
An interesting tidbit about There Will be Blood - I can't exactly remember the exact duration, but for a long time (and maybe still even today) this movie earned the distinction of being the only modern movie release that went something like 15 minutes without having a single word spoken after it began.
From an artistic standpoint, the first 15 minutes of the movie may, very well, be the most important 15 minutes of the entire movie because of the tone and mood that was struck.
