A great baseball book

I'm not sure how many ' history of baseball ' fans there are here, but if there are any, I am in the middle of a great book
The New York Game: Baseball and the Rise of a New City by Kevin Baker.
It traces the growth of baseball through the growth of NY City (and NYC through baseball), from 1830's to present. As a NY'er it is an exceptional book, but any fan of the history of baseball will love it.

he has "fed" a fair amount of good baseball books to me over the years. In case anyone else here is interested,

Not surprised - it came out fairly recently.

Great list - I've read all but Moneyball. Need to get to it. I'd add Dynasty by Peter Golenbach, another great read on the NY Yankees. And the Bad Guys won by Jeff Pearlman. I haven't finished it (stopped halfway) but it is a fun read about the '86 Mets
