I've had no problems with either type, but the Callaway adapters do have differences as to where you buy them.
Some have threads that go almost to the top of the sleeve, and others only have threads about 1/2 way up to tip.
Another thing is that some will have hard plastic ferrules that can break with hard swingers. I just replaced 1 for a guy that bought a driver from me. Never realized it was hard plastic when I installed it.(and no marks anywhere to show he was hitting the ground/heel/hosel)
I get mine from Value Golf. They have the 1/2 threads, which most, if not all, aftermarket adapters may have.
