I worked 9-5 today. Can’t remember the last time I worked 8 hours. I’m used to working 3 and getting paid for 8.
Anyway… I got to see a lot today at the shop.
It was 90 with 90% humidity and nobody cancelled. In fact, I had more people tell me today was their first time ever playing golf than I have ever seen. I made sure I thanked the people that brought them out for their first time on a busy weekend at noon time for 18 holes.
Today’s pace was 6:15. Yeah…. I had a family got out with 2 kids under 10 and made them play the blue tees. One kid hit it good but 120 tops. Apparently last week the pros here were behind them and the kid shot 143.
Had another group where I actually saw the kid whiff 11 times. I said something later to the guy I was working with, he told me it was 15… I was inside the shop at the beginning. So these dopes get there 20 minutes early and then when they step on the tee they decide they want carts. And all pay separately. So now they are 10 minutes behind. I’m on the shop when I notice another 10 minutes have gone by and they are still on the tee with this guy flailing away at nothing. I went over and said,” pick it up, I can’t have this on a busy day, people are waiting. Play the red tees but for now you need to go.” Other guy in the cart tells me he normally plays the whites and must have first tee jitters. I said, “ I do t care what tees you have him paying, he should be at the reds at least. And he whiffed 11 times that I saw, those aren’t jitters, he’s awful.” The guy said nothing. Next guy gets up and whiffs 4 times….🙄🙄🙄. WTF???????
So I see them make the turn. They ignore what I told them of course about playing the red tees for that kid. and I watch him whiff 4 times on the 10th tee and then hit one dead left 20 yards along the ground. At that point I just went back in the shop.
